ARCHIVAL PIGMENT PRINT ON PAPER
lens-based montage, from the No Solid Surface series
Size 12 ? 14 in (unframed)
A found negative of silhouetted pedestrian on a snow plowed road. NASA planetary imagery arises from the horizon, the atmosphere glowing in teal and yellow. The scene is reframed in an early 20th-century glass plate slide.
The layered montage reflects the passage of time through the deteriorated negative. Harsh weather, and a distant, otherworldly sky blend reality with surrealism and steampunk. It evokes curiosity and wonder at worlds both familiar and unknown.
